Before we left for Winter Break, PK, K and 1st grade students all shared Robert Sabuda's books, either "The Twelve Days of Christmas" or "A Winter's Tale" Mr. Sabuda is a paper engineer and everyone is astonished at the detail in his pop-up books. We learned that paper pop-ups is one way to illustrate books and the children were able to create their own pop-up book! If you want to see Mr. Sabuda's amazing work, visit his website. Shown here are students from Ms. Chavez' 1st grade class with their pop-up creations.
We decorated our Christmas tree with ornaments the students made. Everyone who passed an Accelerated Reader quiz got to design their own ornament or snowflake. The snowflakes were displayed in the library windows and the ornaments on the tree.
Well over 350 quizzes were passed and celebrated in this way. Students enjoyed participating and, as always, Every Reader is a Star!!
